In the time of the Pharaoh, a tiny infant is rescued from the banks of the Red Sea. She is named Zipporah, "the little bird". Although she is a Cushite by birth, one of the black people of the lands to the south, she is taken in by Jethro, high priest and sage of the Midianites. Jethro adores his adopted daughter, and she is an honored member of his family. But the blackness of Zipporah's skin sets her apart and will decide her future she will be an outsider, and the men of her adopted tribe will not want her as a wife.
But when she becomes a young woman, Zipporah's destiny changes forever. While drawing water at a well one day, she meets a handsome young man, a stranger. Like her, he is an outsider, a foreigner. His name is Moses. A Hebrew raised in the house of the Pharaoh, Moses is a fugitive, forced to flee his homeland of Egypt after murdering one of the Pharaoh's cruel overseers. Zipporah knows almost immediately that this man will be the husband and partner she never thought she would have.
At first Moses wants nothing more than a peaceful life with the Midianites. But Zipporah refuses to let Moses forget his past or turn away from what she believes to be his true destiny. Although he is the love of her life and the father of her children, Zipporah won't marry Moses until he agrees to return to Egypt to confront Pharaoh and free his people. When God reveals himself to Moses in the burning bush, his words echo Zipporah's, and Moses returns to Egypt with Zipporah by his side.
A woman ahead of her time, Zipporah leaps from the pages of this remarkable novel. Bold, independent, and a true survivor, she is a captivating heroine, and her world of deserts, temples, and ancient wonders is a fitting backdrop to an epic tale.

First and foremost I had NO IDEA that Moses even had a wife, let alone a Cushite/ Black woman who he was attractive and stole his heart and love, yet wouldn't have him until he had completed what God wanted him to do. This is such a touching story about love, no matter what color a person is. It's about love of a man and his duty not just to his wife and children, but foremost to Yahweh. I knew the ending, yet I didn't want it to end. Well written Mark Hayek I'm looking forward to the last of your trilogy. Lilah.Product details

Zipporah Wife of Moses (Audible Audio Edition) Marek Halter Ellen Reilly Random House Audio Books Reviews
A really fascinating, and different look into biblical history. This is a highly readable, entertaining, thought-provoking, and innovative accomplishment of creative storytelling. I highly recommend this to you.
THIS IS A STORY THAT IS OFTEN READ OVER BUT THIS AUTHOR MAKES HER SO REAL SHE COMES ALIVE AND UNFORGETTABLE.
This story stirred-up so much emotion and contemplation within me. While reading this book I felt joy, sadness, inspired, anger, and pride. Though I’m very familiar with the biblical account of Moses, this book offers another fascinating, refreshing and creative perspective.
I’m not sure if it is true because I’ve never heard of Moses having a wife. Actually they were never married. Good writing though.
LOVE IT! BOOK CLUB
I like the concept of the book, it was an original perspective on a very well known story. I personally did not like the way the book was written, I had trouble getting into the book and relating to the characters.
I enjoyed this book it is part of a trilogy of the women in the bible. First keep in mind this is not an actual account of the bible story but an imagined account. I enjoyed reading the account of Zipporahs days meeting Moses, being with him, marrying him, traveling with him back to Egypt and finally leaving with him to cross the desert. The story is imaginative and there are no slow points. Her unique insight as a chushite was powerful. I did have to read several parts a few times as the writing was switching from first account to narrative but nothing serious. It enjoyed it and will read all the others in the trilogy.
I did not receive this book in exchange for a review
